Laureate Community Academy praised in Ofsted report

Laureate Community Academy has been praised for supporting pupils to “shine”.

The school was inspected by Ofsted in January and maintained its Good rating across all five Ofsted headings.

The report said pupils were proud of their school and enjoy learning from an ambitious curriculum while also understanding the importance of mental and physical health.

Collaboration and compassion were also highlighted as hallmarks of how the school works.

Inspectors said: “Pupils attend school every day because they do not want to miss their peers or new learning.

“Pupils’ personal development is a strength – they care about each other and treat each other with respect.

“Those pupils who are new to the school quickly make friends and have the support they need to settle and thrive. Pupils are inclusive and value the diversity of the school population.

“Everyone understands what it means to belong and be a member of the school community.”

A priority on early reading was also praised with the report adding: “In the early years, children are confident and settled. The provision is well planned.

“The newly developed outdoor area provides spaces to read and share stories as well as for climbing and exploring nature.”

Welcoming the report, co-headteachers David Perkins and Cath Dalton said: “We are delighted with the report and are very proud of the whole school community who have put so much effort into this achievement.

“We are pleased that our focus on mental health and wellbeing has been identified with pupils’ personal development being highlighted as a strength.

“It’s great that Ofsted recognised how inclusive and respectful our children are, and that compassion and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.”
