Keeping Children Safe Online
Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Laureate Community Academy. We have security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any Online Safety incidents are recorded. Online Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
The most successful way to keep children safe online is to work with parents to ensure the Online Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

We have provided some website links, giving advice against a lot of the problems that today’s technology can cause children. They aim to help children, parents, and school staff to help children get all the benefits of modern online technology while, at the same time, avoiding the dangers.

Online Safety Resources
Vodafone have produced a Digital Parenting website which informs parents about the various technologies children are accessing today. There are also a large number of incredibly useful resources to support parents.
Virgin Media have a Children’s Internet Safety Test below, to keep on top of how your children are making use of the world wide web.
NCA-CEOP, is a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline.
- Jessie & Friends: online safety education for 4-7s
A series of three animations aims to give 4-7 year olds knowledge, skills and confidence to help them respond safely to risks they may encounter online. - Play Like Share – keeping 8-10 year olds safe online
A three-episode animation for 8-10 year olds helps them to learn how to spot pressuring and manipulative behaviour online and to stay safe from other risks they might encounter online.
